The Ryzen 5 1600 Af is a recent release of the 2nd Ryzen 5 gen. It had its first model released in 2019. And has improvements over the first 1600 version launched in 2017 that had zen architecture, 14 nanometers. And the 1600 AF has the second generation Zen + architecture. Today, we will do a general review of this CPU and also some tests to see how far the Ryzen 5 1600 AF can go, and see also if it is the best price performance processor in 2020. Check it down below.
The price range of this processor is equivalent to a core i3 9100F, that has four cores and four threads. Similarly in a Ryzen 5 1600 Af we have 6 cores and 12 threads, 3.2Ghz clock with boost up to 3.6Ghz. Just noting that this processor does not have integrated graphics. If you want a video, you will need a graphics card.
Also, it is relevant to note the cooler that comes with this processor isn’t the same as the old one. The wraith spire. Now on this new version is the wraith stealth, which is a negative point because it is a little smaller than the old one. A simple cooler is advisable
if you pay attention to the temperature if you want to do a heavy overclock on this CPU using this cooler.
Next, tests were done on memory latency. The Ryzen 5 1600 Af reached a result of 68.6, thus getting close to the Ryzen 5 2600. Which had an outcome of 68.2. And the original Ryzen 5 1600 had an effect of 72.8. With that presenting an excellent improvement of latencies on Af version.
Tests will be done with this processor in games, with different video cards. In order to see how far the Ryzen 5 1600 can achieve 100% GPU usage.
The Ryzen 5 1600 AF was already used to test the Rx 570’s performance, reaching 100% card usage in most games, Click here to see the entire post.
All games will be tested in maximum graphics quality, with a 2×8 ram dual channel. Check down below.
The Ryzen 3 1600 Af practically endured to keep the GPU at 100% in all games, except FFXV. This game known for not running on the most powerful machines, the ryzen 5 had a little work.
Once again Final Fantasy Xv proves to be a challenge for the Ryzen 1600 Af. But reducing the graphics, there was a considerably high-performance boost, as in the other games the ryzen 5 1600 managed to calmly hold the 1080ti.
The Ryzen 5 1600 surprised me when I did this test, I thought it would not support taking the Rtx 2060 above 80%, but it did.
For some unknown reason, the GPU usage in the final fantasy xv game was higher than in the Gtx 1080ti. Thus leading to more fps. Even so, there were a lot of drops and stuttering.
The Ryzen 5 1600 Af is unable to deliver all the potential that the RTX 2080ti has to offer, the bottleneck is visible here, This is clearly the limit of the Ryzen 5 1600 AF.
Ryzen 5 1600 Af is an excellent cost-benefit for you looking for an intermediate processor. As seen in the benchmarks, it can handle an Rtx 2060 above 80%.
